About Maureen
It was April of 2005. Maureen Mason-Cover sat annoyed, waiting to use the weight bench at her local YMCA. “Why wait here,?” she thought. “My husband can make me a little wooden bench and I can workout at home”! And the rest is history.
Friends soon requested benches, and Maureen formatted her home workout, blending Pilates and free weights. She produced a DVD to showcase this workout as well as a book to instruct others. Maureen found the perfect 20-minute workout format to help women in a similar situation as herself—women with minimal time to exercise who want maximum results using a weight bench that will blend with home décor.
BenchFitTM Workouts
The BenchFitTM Bench and Workout are instructed using ergonomics, and joint and spine-safe movements while boosting users’ moods and motivational drives. BenchFitTM I serves as a beginning-to-intermediate workout, and BenchFitTM II is an intermediate-to-advanced program for strength conditioning. Maureen recommends linking the strength workout with cardiovascular exercise. She also finds that fitness/dog walking, hiking and bike riding suit her personal exercise style.
Professional Credentials
Maureen earned a master’s degree in physical therapy and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University and also possesses a personal training certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Pilates mat certification, allowing her to provide essential, sequential program links to work with individuals from beginner through advanced level. She blends her professional time between physical therapy, personal training, and teaching on health and fitness topics.
